Day 4 Review

A look at the days play from day 4

The Pool B game between Korea and Czech Republic turned out to be a very close game, decided by a 3-run 8th for the Easterns on the rieliever Brabec.
Korea had taken a 1-0 lead on the starter Marko Vykoukal the in the 2nd, with 2 of the 3 total hits allowed by the European pitcher in 5 innings, and a sacrifice fly.
The winner is Yoon Young Sam, with no runs, 4 hits, 4 walks and 5 so in 8,0

Team Italy rushed a 5-0 lead against France in the top of the 1st out of the starter Monbeig and the early relief of lefthander Christopher Morel. But the game was everything but ended, because France equalized the game in the fifth inning, taking advantage of 4 errors of the Italian defense, while Morel set his pitching and gave up no runs for 4 innings.
But the game changed completely again in the 6th, when the Azzurri lineup started to deliver more power from the box: doubles from Ainger, Grimaudo and Sellaroli, a triple from Benetti (6 rbi’s in the game) and also a solo homer by Caradonna for a 14-8 win.

The United States are the only team with a 3-0 record in the tournament, after a 10-0, 7-inning win against Chinese Taipei.
After 2 scoreless innings, Team USA scored 7 runs in the 3rd, with 2-run homer by Francisco Lindor and double by Brian Ragira. Taiwan got just 2 hits, 2 walks and 8 strikeouts out of the American pitcher Philip Pfeifer.
