The IBAF Men’s Baseball World Rankings have been updated once again following the conclusion of the World Baseball Classic Qualifiers in Taipei City and Panama City, the Asian trip of the Cuban national team with games against Chinese Taipei and Japan and the South American Championship.

Surprise WBC Qualifier winner Brazil, which stunned Panama, Nicaragua and Colombia at Rod Carew Stadium in Panama City, made the leap into the top 20 of the World Ranking. Chinese Taipei, which won the WBC Qualifier in Taipei City, meanwhile moved back into seventh place with the expected victory.

Chinese Taipei also made up some ground towards leader Cuba with their 2-1 victory in the opener of the Thunder Series in Taichung prior to the WBC Qualifier. Cuba later also would lose twice to Japan, which solidified third place and reduced the deficit as well, surpassing the 600 points mark.

New Zealand gets ranked for the first time. The Diamondblacks reached the final game at the World Baseball Classic Qualifier in Taipei City and used the accumulated points to enter the IBAF Men’s Baseball World Ranking at the 29th position.

Argentina won the XI South American Championship in Ecuador and moved from 26 to 22 in the Men’s Baseball World Ranking. They had beaten Ecuador, Peru, Chile and Bolivia on their way to the title.

Another update of the IBAF Men’s Baseball World Ranking will be released following the completion of the ongoing 26th BFA Baseball Championship in Taichung. Japan, Korea, Chinese Taipei, the Philippines and Pakistan are participating in the event.
